Tim Wilbanks, Owner of Heritage Honeybee, is a fifth generation beekeeper. He grew up in Claxton, Georgia working in his family’s commercial package and queen rearing business, The Wilbanks Apiaries, Inc.. Cool, crisp fall weather, which brings incomparable bowhunting opportunities, and God’s plan brought him to the Midwest. He moved here as a chiropractor. But, five young children at home increased Tim’s desire to be in the office less and “in the yard” more. He answered the call to his roots starting Kalona Honey Company in 2013, a package distribution business. In 2016, Tim acquired Lee Heine’s package bee business, which is relocating the primary family residence to Wisconsin. It is truely a family business with his queen bee, Sarah, and brood, Ansley, Harrison, Reed, Priscilla, and Beatrice helping with everything from managing their store inventory to extracting honey. On any given day, the children will be seen along side dad in the operation, usually begging to stick their finger in a honeycomb.
